Think back to when you were a teenager. Imagine the difference it might have made to have someone by your side - someone who believed in you, listened without judgment, and encouraged you to see your own potential.
As a
Mentor with the Oasis Intensive Mentoring Program , you have the chance to be that person. You'll walk alongside young people in DC (ages 10-17) who are navigating tough circumstances, offering them consistency, guidance, and hope. Through one-on-one activities, cultural outings, and everyday encouragement, you'll help them grow into their strengths and imagine new possibilities for their future
This position is not currently active but is expected to be awarded in October 2025. We are pre-recruiting passionate professionals who want to make a difference from day one. What You'll Do Build Trust:
Be a dependable, positive adult presence in a young person's life. Show Up Weekly:
Spend time one-on-one - whether it's helping with schoolwork, sharing a meal, playing basketball, or exploring DC. Guide & Support:
Encourage mentees to set and pursue personal, academic, and career goals. Model Resilience:
Show integrity, empathy, and perseverance through your actions. Join Community:
Attend occasional group activities, workshops, and mentor support gatherings. Qualifications
What We're Looking For
Local DC residents (18+) with compassion, reliability, and good listening skills. People who can commit to at least
one hour per week for a year
to build a meaningful mentoring relationship. Relatable role models who understand the challenges of youth and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. (Preferred) Experience with youth, trauma-informed practices, or bilingual skills. Why It Matters
