Summary The Water System Field Inspector under the direct supervision of the Department Manager and the general supervision of the Director of Environment & Sustainability is responsible for the day-to-day project inspection and coordination related to water utility systems (potable, storm & sanitary) at Detroit Metro and Willow Run Airports.

Essential Functions • Performs field work that supports the Airport Authority's compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (water sampling, hydrant flushing & minor maintenance). • Performs field utility locating, marking and oversight services for underground water utilities. • Performs daily walk through inspections of assigned projects and/or contractors; compiles daily reports, contacts responsible parties (i.e. tenants, contractors, Airport Authority Departments, etc.) to address issues. • Assists in facilitating the cross-connection and backflow preventer program as required by the State of Michigan. • Provides construction field coordination and oversight for all water, sanitary, and storm utility system projects. • Assists in updating the Authority's inventory of existing water utility system components and layouts. • Assists in preparing reports required by State of Michigan. • Available for emergency response, 24 hours/day, seven days/week. • Other duties as assigned.

Education High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency

Experience 5 or more years of experience inspecting and maintaining potable water distribution systems, including utility locating procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Office Suite Software (Core - Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation)

State of MI Waterworks System Operator State of Michigan Water System Operator S-4 license. Must maintain the S-4 State (or higher) State of Michigan Water System Operator's License as a condition of employment.
