JOB SUMMARY:

The Automation and Digital Engineer is responsible for leading projects to automate and digitalize manufacturing processes. This role will leverage insights from the manufacturing floor (gemba) to identify opportunities, research state-of-the-art technologies, design and implement automation solutions, and support continuous improvement efforts. The position requires strong expertise in PLC programming, control system commissioning, and knowledge of electrical safety standards, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Use insights from gemba to identify valuable problems to solve and build cases for automation and digitalization. Research alternative technologies, design, build, and test automation solutions, collaborating with third-party vendors and contractors as required. Commission, qualify, and validate new manufacturing technologies in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Support troubleshooting of existing equipment, identify improvement opportunities, and implement technology upgrades. Contribute to defining and deploying global specifications for automation and digitalization across manufacturing plants. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline. Substantial experience in automation and control engineering roles within manufacturing plants. Strong practical expertise in the design, build, and testing of industrial automation systems. Proficiency with instrumentation, local controllers, and supervisory control systems (Rockwell Automation products preferred). Ability to interpret manufacturing and equipment specifications, including drawings and schematics. Familiarity with industrial network design and implementation. Capable of managing personal workload and coordinating contracted third parties through visual/daily management practices. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of procedures for managing change in regulated industries, including commissioning, qualification, and validation. Experience with automated batch process control and recipe management; knowledge of ISA-88 is advantageous.

Top 3 Essential Skills:

Knowledge of electrical safety circuits (Category or SIL).

Ability to program PLCs (preferably Rockwell).

Troubleshoot and commission control systems.
