Amedisys Hospice Chesapeake
Remote "Tuck-In Call" Volunteer
Amedisys Hospice Chesapeake, Chesapeake, Virginia, United States, 23322
Amedisys Hospice is seeking compassionate, reliable volunteers to join our
Tuck-In Call
program. This remote opportunity offers a meaningful way to support hospice patients and their families by providing companionship and ensuring their comfort and readiness for the weekend. As a Tuck-In Call Volunteer, you will make friendly, supportive phone calls to patients and/or their caregivers. These calls serve a dual purpose: offering much-needed social connection and verifying that families have the supplies, medications, and services they need before the weekend begins. Responsibilities: Make approximately 12-15 phone calls each week to assigned patients or caregivers. Provide companionship and emotional support through friendly conversation. Ask a brief set of check-in questions to confirm that families have everything they need (e.g., medications, supplies, equipment). Document any concerns or needs and promptly relay them to the clinical team. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Attend a one-time orientation and training session (virtual). Commit to consistent weekly participation, with flexible timing based on your schedule. Qualifications: Kind, empathetic, and a good listener. Comfortable speaking on the phone with patients and families. Dependable and able to maintain a consistent volunteer schedule. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must reside in the U.S. and pass a background check. Hospice or healthcare experience is a plus but not required-training is provided. Benefits: Make a meaningful difference in the lives of hospice patients and families. Gain valuable experience in healthcare, social work, or volunteer services. Enjoy the flexibility of volunteering remotely on your own schedule. Be part of a supportive and compassionate care team.
