SAFETY/SECURITY SENSITIVE DESIGNATION & JOB OBJECTIVE

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To perform transcription of reports and defendant, victims and witness statements from notes or recorded statements; provides typed documents from information obtained by law enforcement personnel in the investigation of potential criminal cases for the Major Crimes Division of the Little Rock Police Department. Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Types documents from case files which include taped statements from suspects, witnesses and victims, and a summary of events from rough draft or takes and transcribes dictation. Transcribes dictation from a digital transcriber and utilizes a headset; types and proofreads information into final format, correcting grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors; erases tapes when transcription is complete. Contacts the originator of the document to ensure proper information has been given if verification is needed. Maintains daily log of typed material, number of documents, originator, and any additional information required by the supervisor. Notifies immediate supervisor of problems with equipment, users, or dictated material; researches and applies word-processing and desktop publishing techniques for more efficient output. Determines the format of work, ensuring compliance with any instructions provided by the person dictating the document; maintains confidentiality concerning work. Operates a computer with word processing software, to transcribe and type documents and memoranda in the performance of essential job functions. None. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of high school, and two (2) years of clerical experience including one (1) year of transcription experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Level 1, Basic Terminal Operator certification within six (6) months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position. Must possess Notary Public certification within six (6) months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position. DISCLAIMER:

-The City pays a portion of the total cost of employee only health insurance. Coverage for an employee's dependents is available at the employee's option; the City pays part of the cost of this additional coverage.

Life Insurance

- The City pays the total cost of employee life insurance. Amount of coverage is one to three times salary, based on job classification.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

- The City pays the total cost for employee AD&D. Amount of coverage is one times salary.

Long-Term Disability

- The City pays the total cost of long-term disability insurance. Amount of coverage is 60% of salary.

Retirement

- Our 401a pension plan requires contributions by both the City and the employee.

Vacation Regular, full-time employees shall earn vacation Leave at the following rate: Days Per Year Up to 3 yrs. of service10 3 yrs. to 10 years of service15 10 yrs. to 20 yrs. of service18 20 yrs. of service and over22 Vacation may be accumulated; however, a maximum of thirty (30) days may be carried over to the next year.

Discretionary Days

Regular, full-time employees receive three (3) discretionary Leave days each calendar year. Discretionary days for new employees are prorated as follows:

Sick Leave

Regular, full-time employees earn sick Leave from the first day of employment at the rate of twelve (12) days per year with a maximum accrual of 125 days.

Sick Leave may be used for personal illness or injury, medical, dental, and optical examinations, and pregnancy or any related disabilities.

Sick Leave may be used for members of the employee's immediate family (spouse and children). Procedures vary by employee group. Employees in non-union-eligible classifications should consult the Administrative Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual to obtain information about family sick Leave. Employees in union-eligible classifications should consult the AFSCME Statement of Agreement and/or their union stewards.

Funeral Leave

Regular, full-time, non-probationary employees shall receive up to three (3) days (four (4) for out-of-state funerals) with pay to handle necessary funeral arrangements or related business for a death in their immediate family. Immediate family shall be defined as mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, spouse, or spouse's immediate family.

Longevity Pay

Longevity pay will be paid at the rate of $3 for each year of service up to and including the fifth (5th) year and $6 per month for each year of service beginning at six (6) years and for each year of service thereafter.
