Position Summary
The State University of New York at Geneseo Office of Admissions is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, equity-minded individual who has a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an Assistant Director of Admissions.
The Assistant Director of Admissions is a key member of the Admissions team. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director provides day-to-day oversight of all on- and off-campus recruitment events and directly supervises members of the professional staff. The Assistant Director helps to develop data-informed recruitment and application strategies and acts as a liaison with campus (internal) and community (external) partners.
Plan and manage an annual calendar of recruitment and yield events for various audiences (prospective students, admitted students, influencers, school counselors, CBO representatives, independent consultants). oversee the on-campus, virtual and off campus visit experience. Set measurable goals for each event; monitor, assess, and report outcomes.
Supervise, hire, onboard, train, mentor, and schedule 20–30 student workers and volunteers.
Manage an assigned recruiting territory, using data and assessment tools to increase student engagement and enrollment.. Execute a territory management plan that includes interviews, high school visits, receptions, and summer send-off events. Review applications and make admissions decision recommendations.
Coordinate with Operations to ensure effective staffing, professional standards, and welcoming environments in reception areas and event spaces.
Develop and lead visitor experience training for staff, promoting a culture of hospitality, relationship-building, and personalized attention.
Work with Communications, Marketing, Admissions, and Financial Aid teams to create strategies that drive campus visits through authentic storytelling and accurate information.
Required Qualifications
Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Must be highly motivated, creative, flexible, detail-focused, and adaptable to changing environments.
Excellent written and verbal communications, public speaking, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience in planning and executing developmental or informational programming.
Applicants must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of campus and department mission.
Ability to drive and hold valid driver’s license required.
Candidates are required to work extended hours during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments.
At least 5-7 years of higher education experience or related field.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship.
