A wash bay technician is responsible for thoroughly cleaning and detailing heavy construction equipment in a designated wash bay area. This role is common in the transportation, construction, and automotive industries and requires strong attention to detail and physical stamina. The specific duties can vary depending on the type of equipment being washed, and other general service department duties as directed by the Branch Manager.
Essential Functions Safety
- Notify the Branch Manager immediately of all damages of the equipment and facilities. Maintain a safe working environment in the shop and parts warehouse. Other Functions
. Equipment cleaning: Operate pressure washers, automatic washers, and other specialized cleaning equipment to wash vehicle exteriors. Climb on and off equipment to operate or gain access to hard-to-reach areas for cleaning/detailing. Detailing: Perform interior detailing, including vacuuming, steam cleaning upholstery, and cleaning all interior surfaces including glass, metal, plastic and rubber. Vehicle movement: Operate heavy construction equipment in and out of the wash bay as needed. Safely move and utilize rolling staircase to gain access to hard-to-reach areas. Maintenance and repairs: Assist with minor maintenance tasks including but not limited to fueling equipment, performing fluid checks, ready equipment for delivery to customers. Inspection: Inspect vehicles for any damage, such as broken glass/mirrors, scratches, dents, or pre-existing issues, before and after the washing process. Compliance and safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of chemicals and waste materials. Facility upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the wash bay, equipment, tools, and the surrounding work area. Documentation: Complete and submit work orders with notes or other required paperwork related to the washing process and completed tasks. Check ins/outs: Complete equipment check ins and check outs on I pad type tablet. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Able to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines. Knowledge of machines and tools used for repair, maintenance, and cleaning of facilities. Able to operate a forklift. Able to communicate verbally and in written form effectively as appropriate for the needs of the customer or coworkers. Strong attention to detail. Able to process work with accuracy. Able to complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner. Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet. Basic knowledge of office machines, including copier, fax and printer. Able to work effectively in a team environment. Meet commitments and deadlines. Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work a flexible schedule as needed. Demonstrates openness to new procedures, technology and structure.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to lift and push a minimum of 50 lbs. frequently. Employee must be able to walk, climb, stoop, reach, crawl, crouch, stand and kneel for an extensive amount of time. Able to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Education/Work Experience
High school diploma or GED required. At least one year of past experience preferred but not required.
