Terms of Employment

Terms of Employment: Full time position - 174 days (depending on start date) 8 hours per day. Pay per Classified Salary Schedule - Category II ($19.67-$30.00). This position qualifies for benefits. The District provides its employees with a comprehensive benefits program including medical, life, and dental insurance. The District provides two medical plans for which it pays the full premium for employees, and a third option is a buy-up plan for which the district pays the majority of the premium. In addition, the District pays the full employee premium for dental insurance and life insurance. The District contributes to PERA on each employee's behalf and offers additional retirement savings options as well as optional supplemental insurance. Employees also receive paid time off. Worker's compensation and unemployment insurance are provided in accordance with State law. This position qualifies for paid leave: 5 annual leave days and 6 sick leave days (depending on start date).

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Transportation Director, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Summary

Responsible for driving students to and from schools located outside of the Weld RE-5J School District. Other routes may be assigned that do not require a CDL driver. Some of these routes may span a distance of greater than 50 miles (one-way).

Drive routes that do not require a CDL Maintain and promote professional defensive driving attitude Daily pre and post trip inspections Maintain proper student discipline per Board policy Maintain appropriate communication with supervisor, school and parents regarding student behavior Assist transportation department with other duties, including utility work such as cleaning vehicles, building, and equipment, etc. Attend work and arrive in a timely manner Perform other duties as assigned Confidential Information

Staff members shall not access, receive, transmit or retransmit material regarding students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality laws. If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care shall be taken to ensure that only those with a "need to know" are allowed access to the material. Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies. Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Education and Related Work Experience

High school diploma or equivalent Experience driving students preferred Licenses/Certifications

Criminal background check Valid Colorado Driver's License Current first aid and CPR card Employee could be subject to drug and alcohol screening Small Vehicle Training Completed within one month of hire Technical Skills and Knowledge

Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
