The City of Mason City is seeking a full-time

Assistant City Engineer

to play a key role in shaping the future of the city's infrastructure. This position supports the City in managing all functions of the Engineering Department and can serve as acting City Engineer as needed. From planning and design to construction and inspection, you will help ensure the city's streets, utilities, and public works projects meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct department planning, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, construction, inspection, and maintenance of streets, sewers, street lighting, traffic control devices, water treatment and distribution systems, and other public works functions. Evaluate engineering needs and develop short- and long-range plans for transportation, streets, water, sewer, drainage, light, and park development. Formulate and recommend revisions to technical design criteria and standard specifications for roadways, water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems. Prepare or review preliminary and final designs for construction projects and oversee final inspections. Review private project development plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and approved plans. Oversee project management for public works construction, including scheduling, inspections, and monitoring progress. Maintain infrastructure records, maps, and databases to support city planning and operations. Coordinate with contractors, consulting engineers, government agencies, and the public on engineering projects. Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. Special Requirements:

Ability to obtain an Engineer-in-Training license within 12 months of hire.
