System Safety Specialist
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Army safety standards. This role involves contributing to the development, assessment, and implementation of system safety programs that support engineering projects throughout their entire lifecycle. The focus will be on hazard identification, risk assessment, and formulating mitigation strategies to ensure adherence to safety requirements and mission assurance objectives. Primary Responsibilities Conduct System Safety Analysis per MIL-STD-882E and customer program needs.
Create, update, and manage system safety program documentation, including System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Tracking Systems, Hazard Analyses, and Safety Assessment Reports.
Identify, monitor, and alleviate safety hazards throughout system design, development, testing, and deployment phases.
Collaborate with various engineering disciplines (systems engineering, reliability, testing, quality, design) to ensure safety requirements are fully integrated into projects.
Engage in safety reviews, technical meetings, and program status briefings.
Assist in preparing safety data packages for Army Safety Board reviews.
Support compliance with applicable DoD and Army safety standards and regulations.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related technical field.
At least 2 years of experience in system safety engineering or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and its application in system safety programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be eligible for a Secret Clearance.
Must be willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL, if not already a resident.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with AR 385-10, AR 385-16, AR 770-3, and AMCOM 385-17.
Experience with Systems Engineering and Reliability Engineering processes.
Understanding of Army Safety Board processes and documentation preparation.
Experience in conducting various hazard analyses (PHA, FHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, EHA, HHA, FTA, FMEA).
Proficiency with safety tracking systems and databases (e.g., hazard tracking systems, model-based systems engineering).
Possession of an active DoD security clearance.
