Overview

$3,000 sign on bonus.

Responsible for the effective planning and coordination of internal and external patient transports, equipment transports, in addition to product and mail deliveries and pick-ups. This senior role is capable of all patient transportation roles plus dispatch responsibilities, working under limited supervision. Knowledge of internal contacts including staff and management throughout the organization and external contacts including courier drivers, vendors, ambulatory drivers, contractors, and funeral directors.

Responsibilities

Performs all Patient Transport Tech 3 responsibilities plus the following responsibilities:

Assigns patient and equipment transport routes and reviews and adds additional pick-up/delivery stops as necessary in an efficient and cost effective manner

Understands all aspects of daily patient flow and adjusts personnel allocation to fill the demand

Receives, researches and resolves customer issues regarding services and equipment/supplies

Troubleshoots issues with rental beds, iPads, and other equipment and technology

Accesses and navigates competently through Hill-Rom and KCI websites to charge out rental beds and Wound Vacs

Operates in PeopleSoft and uses Smartsheet to enter data proficiently.

Maintains, restocks, and tracks expiration dates in code cart items.

Plans and coordinates expedited courier requests, assuring efficient flow and delivery of mail, supplies, and products

Leads daily/nightly functions and directs the allocation of supplies and employees throughout the facility

Facilitates transportation of emergency and/or special requests for supplies, IV solutions, or equipment, coordinating with the Supply Replenishment Tech and Receiving teams, in addition to the courier team

Update emergency equipment inventory forms

Inspect restraints before being redeployed

Receives and coordinates patient transport and equipment/supply requests and determines the most efficient means of transport

Processes paper work associated with emergency/special request services

Maintains emergency equipment inventory forms

Ensures incoming emergency/special request supplies/equipment are delivered immediately upon receipt

Capable of performing warehouse runs when supplies are needed urgently during off-hours

Acts as a liaison when management leaders and supervisors are not available.

Performs Trainer functions for new Patient Transporters when supervisor and management is unable to perform such duties

Certifies employees in equipment competencies.

Performs N95 respiratory fit test employees.

Contributes to the success of the organization, keeping current on new developments within the D-H system

Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent

Three years of experience as a Patient Transporter at D-H

Two years of experience in Distribution, Receiving, or Courier Service

Two years lead or supervisory experience preferred

Skilled in interpersonal, oral, and written communication, grammar and spelling.

Ability to delegate and provide direction to staff effectively

Ability to work efficiently under pressure, work independently, take initiative, set priorities and use good judgment

Ability to meet organization and departmental appearance standards

Required Licensure/Certifications

BLS required within 30 days of hire date.
