Life Safety Systems Engineer (Contract-to-Perm) Tempe, AZ 85282 $65 – $75 per hour
Job Summary: We are seeking a
Life Safety Systems Engineer
to support design and engineering for fire protection and life safety systems. This role involves providing code-compliant solutions for major facilities, including fire detection, suppression, and security systems.
Responsibilities:
Design fire alarm, VESDA, security, CCTV, HPM, leak detection, and life safety systems.
Apply knowledge of IFC, IBC, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and NFPA 400.
Perform calculations, create specifications, and produce construction deliverables in 2D and 3D.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and code officials.
Utilize AutoCAD and Revit MEP to create coordinated 3D BIM models.
Support projects with asset protection, toxic gas detection, smoke modeling, and explosion prevention.
Provide guidance to colleagues while working with senior design professionals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with ability to obtain PE licensure.
4+ years of AutoCAD design experience.
Knowledge of fire alarm systems and related manufacturers’ equipment.
Strong understanding of fire/life safety codes and electrical design requirements.
Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects.

Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Experience in semiconductor or data center design.
Design management and project leadership experience.
Mentoring of junior staff.
Working knowledge of Revit or other 3D BIM software.
