Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Control Panel Design Engineer to join our team. The role involves designing and implementing I&C hardware for I&C Systems in Nuclear Power Plants, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality engineering mechanical cabinet drawings utilized in the retrofit applications of new I&C Electronic System replacement.
Plan DIN rail, terminal block, and assembly for logical signal flow and clean wiring.
Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
Design enclosure layouts and cooling solutions to manage heat dissipation for solid-state devices.
Route power and control wiring to minimize interference and maintain code compliance.
Select appropriate components (relays, circuit breakers, terminal blocks, etc.) based on application and standards.
Work with Technical Leader to establish effective work plan, including time estimates, requirements, and work processes.
Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and documentation packages for production and customers.
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (UL508A, NEC, CE, IEC, etc.).
Support testing and troubleshooting during production and commissioning.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor, CREO, Pro-panel).
Experience in hardware layout and electro-mechanical design.
Familiarity with electrical schematics, cabling diagrams, and connector layouts.
Ability to retrofit hardware into cabinets and determine the best layout of electrical components.
3+ years of experience in electrical/control panel design.
Experience with ERP systems for BOM management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate, Bachelor, or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, CAD/CAM, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience with PLM, PDM, and ERP for CAD File Management, Document Control, BOM management, and Engineering Change Management.
Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility of being fully remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own space. There will be some travel during the implementation phase of the project to Wilmington, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
