Responsibilities

Check previous production schedule, travelers, memo, and return schedule to determine what color to run

Keep hoppers, accurate, and canisters covered and filled with the correct color / material.

Keep material cleaned from purge trays.

Disseminate a copy of your schedule to Labeling, Blending, Quality Assurance, Lead person, Assistant Group Leader, and Operators in your section.

Pull the color chip in Quality Assurance for the colors to be run during your shift.

Make purging compound and get drain barrels.

Keep machines, accurate, and second floor work area clean and orderly.

Drain excess material from hoppers at mold changes and take the drained material to the second floor Materials Department.

Perform purging operations at end of run or color change

Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and push or pull an excess of 100 lbs

Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements

Process changes must be documented on quality check sheet

Additional IML training required to load labels properly on the In-Line Labeling machines

New Material Handlers will be trained to check material at the beginning of each new order and at the beginning of their shifts on the machines in their section.

Material Handler will confirm by the BOM on the Traveler that material is hooked up to the correct line on the Conair unit and confirm that line is drawing material from correct silo or bin that stores material. The information concerning the exact material that is stored in the bins and silos is display on a monitor screen and is updated by the Materials Department concerning what material is in the specific bins or silos.

After the Material Handler has confirmed the order they are running is properly hooked up to correct bin, the Material Handler will relay this information to the Lead Process Tech in that section. This job function will be completed every day and every shift when machines run, including weekends.

Anytime information is found to not be consistent with BOM from Traveler or that the conair material line is not hooked up correctly the Material Handler is to immediately contact his QA Department & Group Leader and then shut down the machine until a decision can be made about inaccuracies of information. If machine is running on barrels that are made by the Blending Department the information on the barrel must also match information for material as noted by the BOM on the Traveler.

Must obtain and maintain Lock-out Tag-out Certification

Assist Lead person in starting machines

Qualifications

High school diploma / GED equivalent

Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to calculate parts requirements and insure proper timing on resin color changes

Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and to push / pull loads in excess of 100 pounds

Ability to climb ladders / steps

Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 7 hours during an 8 hour shift

Ability to work in a dusty environment

Visual acuity of at least 20/50 for distance and a minimum near vision ability to read 10 - 12 point font at 12 - 18 inches

Ability to pass additional physical and able to work any shift and overtime as needed.

Ability to work well with others.

Knowledge of color changes and reading a production schedule a plus.

Desire to learn and possibly become a Molding Apprentice
