Summary The Cost Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of manufacturing cost analysis, budgeting, and cost control to support efficient and profitable operations. The role acts as a strategic partner between finance, operations, and supply chain teams ensuring accuracy, valuations, and financial reporting related to manufacturing activities.
Responsibilities
Manage and analyze all manufacturing costs including labor, inventory and overhead Compare standard and actual costs identifying and explain variances Analyze and monitor cost drivers, trends and variances and provide insight to improve efficiency and profitability Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process preparing cost reports Participate in budgeting and forecasting of manufacturing expenses Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards related to costing Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvements, waste reduction, and efficiency gains Partner with leadership to resolve cost discrepancies and improve cost accuracy Produce daily production variance and ad hoc reports Prepare, analyze and report monthly gross margin Responsible for account reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventory Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting required 4+ years as a Cost Accountant/Manager in a manufacturing environment preferred Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
