IT Systems Engineer Education Service Center 40 hours of paid time per week, 52 weeks per year Program Assistant Terms and Conditions of Employment, Job Level 9 ($64,798 - $83,486 per year plus benefits) Reports to Assistant Director of Technololgy

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITES As one of four IT Systems Engineers supporting Robbinsdale Area Schools, this role is part of a collaborative, enterprise-grade operations team responsible for the integrity, availability, and security of the district's core technology infrastructure. The team is structured to ensure redundancy and cross-functional coverage, enabling seamless support across all systems and services. Engineers are expected to maintain broad technical proficiency while contributing to specialized areas of expertise. Major system implementations and upgrades are led by vendor partners, with internal staff focused on operational excellence, continuity, and strategic alignment with the district's educational mission.

This position directly supports the mission of Robbinsdale Area Schools - to inspire and educate all learners to discover their unique potential and positively contribute to their community - by ensuring that technology systems are reliable, secure, and responsive to the needs of students, staff, and the broader learning environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor, maintain, and support core infrastructure systems including:

Fortinet Firewalls Extreme Fabric Switching Aruba Wireless (ClearPass & Aruba Central) VMware virtualization Microsoft Active Directory & Azure Google Workspace JAMF Rapid Identity RingCentral VoIP Veeam backup

Provide Tier II support and troubleshooting for escalated technical issues across platforms. Collaborate with vendor partners on major implementations and upgrades; participate in knowledge transfer and team-wide professional development. Maintain thorough documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations. Manage user identity lifecycle processes and maintain Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations using platforms such as Rapid Identity, Active Directory, and Google Workspace to ensure secure, seamless access to district systems. Manage mobile device fleets (Apple, ChromeOS, Windows) using MDM platforms (Intune, JAMF, Google Admin Console). Support backup and disaster recovery systems to ensure data protection and operational resilience. Maintain district-wide printing, UPS systems, and VoIP infrastructure. Participate in rotational coverage and cross-training to ensure redundancy and continuity across all IT functions. Stay informed on emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends to guide operational improvements and technology adoption. Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures across infrastructure systems, including firewalls, endpoint protection, intrusion detection, and threat response. Collaborate with the district's Managed Threat Detection and Response provider to monitor alerts, perform vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents. Ensure compliance with data privacy standards and security policies, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), conditional access, and secure identity lifecycle management. Contribute to the onboarding and training of new technical staff. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field (Bachelor's preferred). Minimum 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems support. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for district-wide travel. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varied physical environments. Preferred:

Certifications such as CompTIA, Apple, Google, Microsoft, or vendor equivalents. Experience with VMware, JAMF, Intune, ClearPass, Aruba Central, Fortinet, Extreme Fabric Switching, Veeam, and enterprise backup systems. Familiarity with identity management, SSO, and directory synchronization. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in office and school building settings. The noise level is typically quiet. Occasional travel between district sites is required.
