What You Will Do:

Performs respiratory care procedures as defined under Section 4761 of The Ohio Revised Code as administered by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board and approved by the Medical Director of Respiratory Services for Firelands Regional Medical Center:

Maintains ongoing communication between respiratory care professionals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to foster continuity of care.

Assures communication between shifts.

Adheres to safety policies.

Clarifies all physician orders. Assigns patient caregivers. Prioritizes patient and staff needs. Assesses the patient. Plans patient care. Evaluates effectiveness of the plan of care. Instructs patient/family. Documents patient care. Collaborates with other health team members.

Responds to and is responsible to all emergent and/or critical patients, maintaining airway and breathing at all times.

Provides pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic care in critical, emergency, acute and subacute setting.

Communicates patient information to caregivers. Documents information. Charges equipment and supplies. Provides an efficient and concise shift report.

Maintains unit. Maintains equipment.

Supports department team. Works for a positive and productive work environment.

Serves as a mentor and clinical preceptor for allied health care students, nursing students, and other professionals assigned to the Respiratory Services Department for the purpose of gaining clinical experience as part of a recognized course of study.

Bachelor's prepared RRT's serve as technical consultants to assess the competency of personnel performing moderate complexity testing.

Licensed therapists may be required to assume relief charge duties as needed. This temporary assignment may be based upon seniority and credential, or rotated through the staff. A charge therapist must be a Licensed Respiratory Care Professional.

Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.

Demonstrates service excellence and ACE.

Performs other duties, as assigned.

What You Will Need:

Ohio Licensed Respiratory Care Professional; Registered Respiratory Therapist.

BLS and Code Pink certification. (Must obtain Code Pink within three months of hire date.)

Minimum six months in an acute care hospital.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to establish a friendly and cooperative relationship with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Analytical ability to evaluate patient care technique, service, and equipment.

Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes.

Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
