Overview :

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of the Credit Union's Compliance Management Program. This position plans, organizes, and controls the Credit Union's day-to-day administrative, lending, and operational compliance activities; collaborates with the Director of Compliance and management in the overall administration of these directives for the Credit Union. Assists in various committees, audits, and examinations. Perform duties as they relate to Bank Secrecy Act/OFAC. Conducts staff training related to new hires and compliance. Advises the Director of Compliance of emerging compliance issues and assists in guiding the Credit Union in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.

Roles and Responsibilities (including but not limited to) : This position will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and reporting on Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering/USA Patriot Act/OFAC and related regulations for compliance matters as defined by statutes, regulations, rules, regulatory interpretations, and regulatory recommendations that apply to the Credit Union. Maintain compliance related procedures for the BSA Program, Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) and Proactive Monitoring. Perform BSA-related investigations, drafting SAR's and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs). Assist in maintaining procedures to comply with Section 314a of the USA PATRIOT Act. Perform reviews of Credit Union disclosures, forms, and working with various business lines in the development of new products and services; and Help identify any weaknesses in the Credit Union's overall compliance management system and internal controls and make recommendations to enhance or facilitate substantial compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and to minimize regulatory violations. Ensure that files include supporting documentation and detailed explanations on all investigations, reports, and monitoring. Monitor various QC, and exception reports. Maintains a schedule for a cursory examination of all compliance requisites and looks for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, timeliness of response to compliance issue or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor, informing him/her of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, or other important information within area of responsibility. Assists the company and divisional management in understanding, interpreting, and addressing all applicable laws and regulations. Maintains compliance review procedures. Responsible for the development and update of BSA/AML/OFAC training materials and forms for credit union staff and management. Assists in monitoring key control reports to ensure compliance with internal policies. Assists the Director of Compliance in working with various departments across the organization with ensuring that audit findings are promptly addressed and resolved. Assist with overseeing and preparing responses to inquiries from regulators, including the management of onsite audit visits and/or exams. Monitor regulations for financial institutions. Maintains a high knowledge level of current Federal, State, and local regulations and laws affecting all Credit Union functions including changes and updates. Maintains a high level of understanding of the linkage between all areas of the Credit Union. Administration of the Credit Union's vendor management program through the organizations chosen software. Works closely with Director of Compliance on projects and other risk management items. Assists with Enterprise Risk Management and internal auditing functions as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills) :

Bachelor's degree, and at least two years of related banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Credit Union experience is preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small to midsize group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
