ADVOCAP
Foster Grandparent volunteers serve in a classroom setting one on one with students providing positive academic, social, and emotional support. Foster Grandparent volunteers help students practice reading & writing, practice what they have learned in math, and most importantly, provide encouragement to students who need extra support to succeed in school.!
Volunteers serve in K-12 schools, 4K classrooms, Head Start centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other after school programs. Volunteers may choose the days and hours they are able to share.
Interested candidates must be age 55 years and over and enjoy sharing their time helping students engage in their learning. All volunteers receive training, transportation reimbursement, and annual recognition. An application and a background check are part of the registration process to begin this rewarding volunteer opportunity.
Volunteers who meet income guidelines and are able to commit to a minimum of 5 hours each week may also qualify to earn a non-taxable hourly stipend, paid holiday, sick, and vacation hours through the Americorps Foster Grandparent Program.
