Luminary Hospice is seeking volunteers to spend an hour or two of their time visiting with a hospice patient within the City of Columbus and:

difference to our patients! We match volunteers with hospice patients who may be living at home or in care facilities, and volunteers make monthly or weekly visits at times that are convenient for them. What does a hospice volunteer do? Hospice vounteers may provide companionship and emotional support for the patient and/or respite care for caregivers. Hospice patients may love to talk and reminisce, or may just enjoy the quiet presence of a friend. As you get to know your patient(s), you will learn what they need and how you can best provide that for them. What if I don’t have any experience? Luminary Hospice provides exceptional training for its volunteers. Hospice volunteers receive the same orientation as paid staff in addition to their volunteer-specific training. Our training covers hospice history and basics, as well as special considerations surrounding grief, ethics, and bereavement. You only need to bring an open heart and a willingness to serve others, and we will train you. Why volunteer with us? Luminary is doing hospice differently. Our interdisciplinary team is comprised of professionals who are genuinely passionate about hospice care. We depend on our volunteers to complement the exceptional service that we offer our patients. Volunteers help us provide end of life care that far exceeds hospice standards and our patients’ and family’s expectations. Join our team of amazing volunteers! Hospice volunteers provide their availability to the Luminary Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, schedule time(s) convenient for them, and spend as much time as they choose with a patient.
