The Role
An established consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its Plymouth team. This role will focus on civil engineering and draughting functions for highways, drainage, utilities, earthworks, and related infrastructure. Current projects include schools, residential developments, and public realm improvements.
Responsibilities
Undertake and manage:
Civil/infrastructure project design management
Drainage design (FRA, layouts, hydraulic calculations)
Highway design (planning, local authority, highway authority)
Levels (cut & fill, retaining walls, boundary constraints)
Sectional agreements (S278, S38, and others with local authorities)
Construction specifications and risk assessments
Responding to site queries during construction
Ensure designs meet quality, legislative, and client standards
Provide commercial input to projects, including management and change control
Develop and maintain client relationships
Support colleagues in delivering first-class, safe, and compliant services
Contribute to business development and office growth
Collaborate with clients, planning consultants, architects, project managers, and engineers
Keep up to date with emerging technologies, standards, and policies What You’ll Need
Strong civil engineering design and coordination skills
Ability to liaise effectively with clients, architects, and project teams
Commitment to professional development, ideally working toward CEng, MICE
Ability to define scope of works, manage client expectations, and deliver to timescales
Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills What’s in it for me?
