CBS/EHS Coordinator
The CBS (Crane Business Systems) / EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Coordinator will serve as the main administrator, liaison, and driver of all CBS & EHS activities along with leveraging the team's skills to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods. Along with providing environmental, health, safety, and security leadership at the CRANE ChemPharma & Energy Brazil, IN location. Individual is accountable for providing leadership for EHS activities to the site including hands-on participation; evaluating and clarifying EHS objectives and targets with Site Leadership; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, regional and local regulatory requirements. Position is directly responsible for EH&S compliance & improvements by assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure of related action items on a timely basis; completion of required EHS training for personnel; supporting Site Leadership teams during crises; creating a strong EHS culture that engages associates. This role will assist in the coordination and development of the organization's roadmap, ensure the Site Continuous Improvement Center is maintained, and that results are clearly communicated to management. The CBS Coordinator will ensure that the Kaizen schedule, results, and updates are loaded into the SharePoint in a timely manner and ensure that consistent follow up and follow through occur for each event. In correlation to continuous improvement this role will provide quality, environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to the site. Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to): Lead, participate, and facilitate in kaizens, JDIs, and projects to achieve strategic business targets in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth. Supervise a small team of Maintenance Technicians to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of facility improvements and preventative maintenance actions. Manage a preventative maintenance schedule designed to mitigate unplanned machine downtime. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Ensures timely and successful completion of kaizens, JDIs, and projects. Provides on-going feedback and progress reports as required to Leadership Team. Serve as main resource for the completion of all technical improvements in the Newspaper items of a Kaizen event. Designs, develops and tests and/or sources cost-justified tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Performs product process analysis for safety improvements, cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency. Uses sound engineering principles and established procedural disciplines to execute projects from conception to completion. Provides training, mentoring and support to develop Certified Tool Champions through the organization. Work with all levels of the Site Leadership team to identify significant improvement opportunities that drive our SDP and SQDCG metrics. Manage the "Continuous Improvement Roadmap" to coordinate kaizen, JDI, and project events across the site. Become certified as a "Tool Champion" in the different disciplines as prioritized by management. Learn and teach and reinforce 5S activities sitewide. Continuously audit Kaizen Event results across the site. Oversee, maintain and improve company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ISO 9001:2015. Maintain the corrective/preventive action program, including receiving and reviewing responses, working with departments for timely completion and periodic reports and metrics. Provide monthly reports on problem areas (Pareto, Trend, and other methods) to senior and executive management for COPQ, Supplier Quality, etc. Lead and coordinate environmental, safety and health related activities for the site to prevent occupational injury/illness related losses, environmental exposure through spills and minimize future liabilities by evaluating risks and establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities. Work with the entire site leadership team to ensure that key EHS operational controls are in place and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis. Assume projects as an individual contributor as requested by the Site Leader. Leading and coordinating all environmental, safety and health related activities for the site to prevent occupational injury/illness related losses, environmental exposure through spills and minimize future liabilities by evaluating risks and establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities. Work with site leadership teams to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks. Review/establish appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives at site and group level. Supports creation of EHS goals for the site and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results. Coach and facilitate EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year. Track training to ensure that all EHS training is defined and tracked to completion at group level. Develop and help implement waste minimization and recycling programs, while also ensuring the Company continues to be environmentally sensitive to recycling and environmental opportunities when evaluating new or existing products and materials Advise management regarding any environmental violations, problems or new regulations affecting the Company Work with site teams to ensure filing of all required environmental reports to government agencies with review team. Support effective implementation of environmental policies and procedures Conduct internal environmental audits at sites to ensure compliance with local government standards Conduct periodic audits to ensure OSHA and EPA compliance Leads monthly reviews of safety action plans Provide OSHA & other EH&S related trainings to sites. Essential Qualifications / Experience: B.S. in Engineering or related degree. 2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to lean manufacturing, six sigma, and 5S practices. Proficient in the use of Word and Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. Knowledge of OSHA and other US regulations and the fundamentals of safety and industrial hygiene. Ability to read and apply applicable regulatory requirements, such as OSHA, NCDENR, ANSI and NFPA Standards. Problem solving and root-cause analysis skills. Unimpeachable ethics. Preferred Qualifications/Experience: Hands-on experience with the successful application of all of the OpEx/CBS Tools. A demonstrated history of successfully facilitating changes that involve all levels of employees. Demonstrated ability to understand process & product specifications. Background in ISO 9001 or related standards. Knowledge of OSHA and other US regulations and the fundamentals of safety and industrial hygiene Ability to travel as necessary.
