POSITION:

Environment, Health, and Safety Manager SCOPE Responsible for on-site, day to day, safety/security guidance, continually improving the EHS program in a manner that reduces risks, eliminates incidents, and complies with external regulatory requirements to provide an environment that is safe for employees, visitors and contractors. Primary duties and responsibilities

Establish and promote the safe, accident free, and healthy work environment. Develop and implement programs to identify safety concerns and improve health and safety. Lead incident investigations, develop corrective actions, and prepare material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations or audits. Study and analyze industrial accident causes and health hazards for company personnel and outside agencies. Compose general safety policies and procedures for plant personnel to comply with local, state and federal OSHA regulations. Consult with all departments on design and use of equipment, buildings, fire prevention, and safety programs. Inspect all facilities to detect existing/potential accident/health hazards and recommend corrective/preventive measures as needed. Alert managers and employees to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and other hazardous substances. Oversee the administration of workers compensation program, work with the insurance carrier to cut down on lost employee time, and cut back on unjust claims. Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs to increase proficiency in safety practices and promote safety consciousness. Manages the ISO 14001/45001 standards. Coordinate and oversee contract security services. Assist with other duties as assigned by Management. Minimum qualifications

Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Working knowledge of ISO standards and certification in ISO14001/45001 Ability to travel to other locations to perform audits and assist in investigations occasionally. Ability to be on call and available to come in during non-regular working hours to assist in emergency situations. Education and experience

Bachelor degree in Health & Safety (or related field) or a Safety Certification with comparable work experience is required. 5 years of progressive experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
