Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering

is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer for the Lenexa, Kansas office. We are looking for Ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also utilizing these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. Candidates shall be capable of exhibiting flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.

Industrial and Water Engineering Group

, which includes electrical, controls, mechanical, process, structural and architectural disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery. The Industrial Group projects span markets such as advanced technologies; mining, minerals and metals; process industries; industrial energy; drinking water; wastewater treatment and biosolids; desalination; and industrial water.

Location

This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office.

Responsibilities

Develops preliminary engineering design and detail engineering design for industrial and water projects

Performs load calculations and coordination study for facility electrical systems utilizing engineering software, like ETAP

Develops technical reports and white paper

Reports project progress updates and/or issues to Lead Engineer as required.

Applies engineering judgement to daily tasks

Works with a multi-discipline team to review and understand client operational and business needs; specifies equipment and contributes to design decisions that meets those needs

Gains a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines; provide suggestions and recommendations as needed.

Reviews vendor and other Discipline drawings for relevant Electrical information

Develops sketches to accompany concept documentation.

Maintains master specification and drawing sets with current revisions for the electrical and controls design drawings.

Participates in project meetings as required.

Checks design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements

Reviews checked drawings, reviews and understands comments made.

Familiar with basic computer operation, and should have had at least introductory computer programming courses as well as the ability to learn to use Electrical department design software tools

Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution

Master's Degree is preferred

GPA above 3.0 preferred

0-2 years of experience working on electrical design for Industrial and/or Water projects

EIT (Engineer in Training) is preferred

Great written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in CAD software, like AutoCAD and MicroStation

Proficient in MS Office suite.

Ability to travel as business requires #LI-IPLA
