The role provides technical direction in the creation, delivery, and integration of multiple and moderately complex software solutions. It may translate business requirements into specific designs and/or participate in the design, evaluation, and selection of IT solutions for software for a specific business process. It establishes current and future use of the practice, metrics, and methodologies to determine current and future solutions. It explores and evaluates new and approved technologies. It consults on the application of existing and new, approved technologies to develop solutions. It ensures the process of creation and delivery of design and solution in accordance with the architectural direction. The main responsibilities include: Leading the design and architecture of distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly available systems Optimizing Java-based systems for concurrency, performance, and memory efficiency Guiding engineering teams in adopting best practices for system design, observability, and reliability Either decommissioning or modernizing the legacy application or AWS migration Collaborating closely with stakeholders to define a long-term technology roadmap Championing DevOps, CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability best practices Mentoring engineers, conducting reviews, and driving technical excellence across teams What we look for in a candidate includes: Expert-level knowledge of Java 8+ with deep knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning Proven experience building enterprise-grade microservices with Spring Boot Strong experience with event-driven architecture and stream processing with Kafka (or equivalent) Experience with observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Splunk or similar Hands-on deployment and optimization experience with AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, Lambda, API Gateway) Ability to design infrastructure-as-code for production systems with Terraform Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, CI/CD pipelines, Kafka, SQL & NoSQL databases Good understanding of OAuth 2.0, Azure Entra IAM Knowledge of networking protocols and security best practices Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows server environment 5+ years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent education and experience Compensation: This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current location based pay ranges: $129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
