Overview
Child and Family Guidance Center is seeking a client-centered Health Services Specialist at our Plano clinic. The Health Services Specialist is a front-line administrative position responsible for providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality. The HSS provides administrative support for our clinics, management, and clinicians. Responsibilities
Performs new patient registration, updates patient information, enters data entry of demographics, and any other required information. Verifies insurance benefit coverage, including co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance. Ensures accurate activations of plans and programs and records special notations in patient account software; assists patient with registration. To be completed at patient check-in or prior to the appointment. Conducts eligibility screening on patients for various programs available through the Center, including predetermination. Refers patients who do not have insurance coverage to QMHP for assistance with completing applications for special funded programs. Performs follow-up eligibility process, including contacting the patient for additional information and contacting the funding source for eligibility status. Prepares for the next day clinic session by reviewing and confirming appointments, noting alerts for payments and balances, obtaining current insurance information, obtaining referrals, updating proof of income, pre-registering patients, and screening patients for program eligibility. Processes patient payments and ensures payments are applied correctly in patient accounts. Regularly monitors and ensures assigned providers schedules are filled at capacity via walk-ins and call reminders to members with next-day appointments by 10:00 AM daily. Oversees the general waiting area, ensures efficient member check-in, and reports problems or irregularities to the appropriate authorities. Performs patient dismissal, including scheduling follow-up appointments and collecting the remaining patient portion of current charges. Oversees clinic nightly closure to ensure all patients have been dismissed from the building; the HSS remains on site until the last patient is dismissed. Obtains and records patient vitals in the electronic health records system. Processes medical records requests. Ensures the protection and security of a consumers personal, confidential and identifiable information in a professional and responsible manner, according to HIPAA standards and requirements. Provides exceptional internal and external customer service. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service. Possesses computer skills with proficiency in data entry and keyboarding. Able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with a team-player attitude. Ability to lead, train, mentor, and manage designated direct reports. Performs job responsibilities without violating ethical, state or federal codes. Willingness to work at other clinic locations, as needed. Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum two years' experience in medical, hospital or clinic setting. Knowledge of insurance verification and patient registration processes. Knowledge of office equipment such as fax, scanner and phone system. Bilingual preferred. Physical Demands
Physical demands of the job include bending, sitting, lifting and staying alert. Must be able to listen and speak clearly with clients via telephone or in person. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Other duties as assigned by the Lead Patient Service Representative or Director of Revenue Cycle Management. Benefits
