Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Analytics Intern to join our Mass Market Product Management team. This team develops and delivers innovative programs that help residential customers make informed energy choices. We manage a broad portfolio of initiatives including renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification, and the digital platforms that support these efforts. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Collaborate with data analytics and data science teams to extract, process, and analyze large volumes of operational and customer data Utilize tools such as Power BI and Excel, and platforms including Salesforce and Databricks, to identify trends and generate actionable insights Support business decision-making through data visualization, performance optimization, and regulatory reporting Shadow experienced analysts to learn best practices in data management and analysis Progress to independent project work, including dashboard development and metric reporting for leadership This position is for a June 1st, 2026 start. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel's business needs. Minimum Requirements
Current student, Junior or Senior status (as of Fall 2026) Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. Able to commute to the corporate office in Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN. Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the spring (up to 20 hours a week). Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Databricks) Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Preferred Qualifications
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including classes in Intermediate Accounting, Auditing, and/or Tax Experience or proficiency with data analytics tools.
