Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, implement, and evaluate before- and after-school programming aligned with child development best practices. Ensure the program provides a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment. Establish schedules, routines, and activities. Manage student registration and maintain accurate records. Communicate regularly with families. Address and resolve parent concerns in a timely and professional manner. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers. Schedule staff and ensure proper student-to-staff ratios at all times. Ensure the program meets all licensing requirements, district policies, and state regulations. Maintain health, safety, and emergency procedures and conduct regular safety drills. Keep accurate incident reports and documentation.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate programming. Effective leadership, team management, and staff supervision abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and staff. Skilled in organizing schedules, maintaining records, and ensuring program compliance. Ability to manage budgets, handle emergencies, and resolve conflicts professionally. Proficient in basic technology and adaptable to changing program needs.
Education and Experience Qualified applicants will hold a Bachelors Degree (with at least 6 credit hours in early childhood education), Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, or have a minimum of 3,000 clock hours working with children in a school or child care center or other organized program for youth. Must be safe environment certified or be willing to become certified.
