Groundwater & Environmental Services (GES) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Environmental Stream Restoration Engineer
with 5-8+ years of relevant experience.

This role requires a well-rounded professional with a strong foundation in environmental remediation, engineering design, field implementation, and operations, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M). Ideal candidates will have experience managing complex environmental projects and a passion for stream, wetland, and coastal restoration.
As part of a small but growing team, this position offers a unique opportunity to take on technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and grow with our expanding stream restoration practice. You’ll work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing both strategic insight and hands-on support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a technical resource on complex stream wetland, and coastal restorations, as well as environmental remediation projects. Support and/or lead remedial evaluations, engineering design, field implementation, reporting, and client communications.
Assist clients with environmental compliance and permitting, including SPCC, NPDES, E&S Controls, and potentially Air Quality.
Lead and support technical and cost proposals, including life-cycle costing and bid preparation.
Review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports prepared by junior staff.
Support project management tasks; base on experience, serve as Project Manager.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across wetland and coastal restoration projects.
Promote a strong culture of health and safety in all project activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in MD/ VA/ NC/ SC...—or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Rosgen Natural Channel Design (Levels I, II, III, and IV) or similar training is a plus.
5 - 8+ years of experience in environmental engineering, with a focus on remediation and restoration.
Strong knowledge of groundwater, soil, and vapor characterization, as well as remedial technologies.
Experience managing complex sites with hazardous and mixed waste, including free-phase product and/or sites that are undeveloped or agricultural in nature..
Demonstrated experience with pilot tests, design, construction, and stream/wetland monitoring.
Solid understanding of environmental permitting and compliance requirements, including to 401/404 permitting, Mitigation Banking, Nutrient Banking or similar Ecological credits.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
Highly organized and self-driven with strong time management and initiative.
