Functional Analyst I
to join our Battery Energy Storage System Operations and Maintenance team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a
Functional Analyst I
do for us?
The Functional Analyst supports the daily operations and maintenance of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by monitoring system performance, reviewing alerts and operations schedules, and providing remote technical support. This role ensures optimal system functionality through remote maintenance, documentation of procedures, and troubleshooting of technical issues. The analyst collaborates with field technicians and internal teams to resolve system problems, maintain accurate records, and support continuous improvement of BESS operations.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
Business operations policies and practices relevant to Battery Energy Storage Systems
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) operations, performance optimization, and safety protocols
Familiarity with OSHA 1910.147 - The control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout)
Application functionality and business processes across the organization
Preferred:
Lithium-ion battery balancing methods
Basic circuit and electrical theory
Skills in:
Clear and effective oral and written communication, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
Time management and task prioritization in a dynamic environment
Troubleshoot technical problems and identifying solutions that align with business needs
Translate business requirements into system specifications with minimal guidance
Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and analysis.
Ability to:
Apply logical reasoning and analysis to BESS operational challenges
Understand and navigate table structures within databases or applications
Interpret technical specifications and relate them to system functionality and user needs
Facilitate stakeholder discussions to design business processes that meet operational requirements
Independently manage and complete work activities within established timelines
Monitor, track, and prioritize large volumes of operational data and system alerts
Assess system performance, diagnose issues, and initiate maintenance orders
Work shift schedules from our Downtown and West Boise locations, including occasional nights and weekends
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Associates degree
OR
Equivalent experience in related field
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, computer science, or field related to area supported
OR
Equivalent combination of educations and IT or business operations experience.
Experience:
2 years of experience in a directly related operations area
AND
2 years of experience in applicable system functionality
Preferred:
3 or more years of experience at IPC in a related area
Licenses & Certifications:
Driver's license required based on business need with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders or management.
