Position Information

NDSU Residence Life is seeking dynamic candidates with demonstrated leadership and administrative experience who are eager to gain a strong full-time professional experience. This listing is for an immediate opening for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. Screening of applicants will begin immediately after the closing date.

Our comprehensive hall director position is designed to allow our staff to work closely in all areas of the department. Hall directors acquire supervision, administrative, facilities, conduct, assessment, and curricular approach to learning experiences. We have a proven track record of preparing newer professionals to be successful in higher education after gaining a strong live-in experience.

North Dakota State University does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Responsibilities

Overall administration and operation of a residence hall including training and supervision for student staff; development and implementation of residential curriculum including student leadership and conduct; serve as part of the on-call duty rotation to respond to student or building emergencies as needed; assist with summer conference housing as well as summer orientation for incoming students; work on departmental committees and initiatives; and participate in university functions and committees.

Work Schedule

M-F, 8:00am - 5:00pm with weekly evening work and some weekend work required.

Advertised Compensation Package for the Hall Director Position

$44,000+/year (salary will be dependent upon building placement)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Experience in a college residence setting or advanced experience in Student Affairs

Commitment to fostering communities of inclusion and belonging

Administrative skills

Basic computer skills

Effective communication skills

Demonstrated advanced leadership, management, and supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, College Student Personnel or related field

Experience with training, presenting, or facilitating
