$40.30/hr - $60.45/hr Major Responsibilities
Supervises staff and operations of clinic practices integrated into the Creticos Cancer Center; supervises clinical navigation programs of the IMMC Cancer Institute. Collaborates with the Medical Director and nursing staff to jointly plan patient care, develop education opportunities for staff and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts. Collaborates with other departments within the Cancer Center to advance our KRAs and the oncology program at large. Establishes staffing requirements and plans for appropriate utilization of human resources. Responsible for local configuration, education, and troubleshooting needs related to our electronic medical record to assure integrity of clinical data and optimal workflow for patient safety. Works with Oncology Services PMO (Clinical Informatics), Field Services I.S., and Corporate I.S. to ensure minimal disruptions in the EMR that affect clinical care of patients. Acts as EMR superuser for Mosaiq and other applications used by clinical staff. Annually reviews and approves all departmental standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols. Participates in relevant hospital, AMG and systemwide committees and councils to revise policies and procedures as necessary. Establishes in partnership with the Medical Director performance metrics and action plans related to those outcomes. Ensures and continually monitors compliance with all regulatory standards (ACOS, ONS, Federal, state, city, Accrediting Organization, IDPA) and hospital policies and procedures at the Family Practice Center. Leads and facilitates daily safety huddles. Serves as outpatient clinical leader representative for Advocate system wide councils, e.g., Oncology Services Council. Travel required between Advocate sites and Advocate corporate offices. Serves as clinical nurse leader for the Creticos Cancer Center for Magnet activities and other nursing-related activities. Actively participates in Cancer Committee activities and systemwide councils/committees to advance clinical practices and the cancer program of AIMMC. Ensures equipment in clinical areas is in optimal working condition and coordinates with Clinical Engineering to ensure safe patient care. Promotes patient satisfaction and assists the center in achieving KRAs for Press Ganey patient satisfaction by providing effective leadership and management. Ensures processes maximize patient satisfaction scores per Press Ganey surveys to meet annual goals for the Creticos Cancer Center. Communicates with staff about gaps in performance affecting patient satisfaction; leads patient satisfaction activities. Manages service recovery for multidisciplinary clinics up to meetings with Guest Relations and other hospital departments. Assists Director and Cancer Center leadership in meeting KRAs for patient satisfaction. Promotes associate and physician engagement by fostering a teamwork environment. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to ensure delivery of quality care; integrates clinical standards to meet patient and center needs. Meets regularly with Medical Director or designee to assure optimal clinic operations; reviews Associate and Physician Satisfaction surveys and assists with action plans. Collaborates with Pharmacy and Lab services within the scope of services required for patient care and resolves issues autonomously. Accessible 24 hours for staffing issues that may arise and require troubleshooting. Promotes KRAs for Funding our Future by ensuring cost effectiveness in staffing, charge-entry compliance, and related accountabilities. Assists and monitors budgets (supplies, equipment, personnel); responsible for budget management and fiscal oversight of all areas of responsibility. Assists Director in annual operational budgets and in preparing new/expanding program proposals with cost implications. Works with Revenue Cycle to reconcile claim denials and maximize payments; assists in fundraising opportunities to support the Cancer Center. Leads equipment acquisition for service enhancements; stays current with oncology standards and industry innovations. Supports marketing efforts including website maintenance and community event participation to promote Cancer Center services. Maintains knowledge of oncology advances through literature, networking, and education. Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois; OCN and Chemotherapy Provider Certification are preferred; BLS required. Board Certification by 12/31/2015 or within two years of hire; 3 years of oncology nursing experience preferred; 2 years of nursing leadership experience preferred. Knowledge and abilities: strong customer orientation; organizational planning and delegation skills; effective communication; critical thinking; proficient with EMR systems; ability to work in rapidly changing environments; lifting up to 35 pounds with patient-handling equipment as needed. Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment; move patients; travel between sites; work with internal/external customers; manage multiple requests; exposure to hazardous materials/diseases; 24-hour accountability for patient care; lifting requirements as specified for patient care; age-appropriate patient care needs; may require use of patient-handling equipment with others as needed.
