POSITION: Teen Coordinator REPORTS TO: Assistant Branch Manager SALARY: $21.06 - $21.69/hour HOURS: Part Time .75 fte - 30 to 35 hours during School Year; Summer Program hours up to 40 hours per week LOCATION: Lakewood Branch - 10402 Kline St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound (BGCSPS) is a non-profit organization that CHANGES LIVES through quality programs and guidance in a safe, affordable, and fun environment. BGCSPSs mission is to inspire all young people, especially those who need us most, empowering them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of their community. We have been providing a safe, fun, and positive environment at our sites with trained and dedicated professional staff for more than 80 years. Members are involved in age-appropriate activities based upon our three priority outcomes of Academic Success, Character Development, and Healthy Lifestyles. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Assistant Branch Manager, the Teen Coordinator is responsible for implementing programs and activities for teens, including planning, promotion, and evaluation of those programs and activities. The position is also responsible for supervising the program areas, and the general operations of the site. Responsibilities Promote safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the branch at all times. Provide guidance and role modeling to members. Promote and stimulate program participation, welcome new members and participate in their activities. Participate in weekly branch staff meetings as required. Plan and conduct teen programs and activities. These programs include but are not limited to:

Power Hour Members get help with their homework while earning points towards incentives. Project Learn Engage in high-yield learning activities including reading, writing, educational games, and tutoring help. Keystone Leadership development experience for ages 14 to 18. Torch Club Leadership and service clubs for ages 11 to 13. Workforce Readiness Program Practical, user-friendly program helping ages 13 to 18 explore youth or human services careers.

Assure that there is a daily written schedule and that activities begin and end on time. Prepare weekly reports for the Assistant Branch Manager about activities, special programs, attendance and other required reports. Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the program area at all times. Maintain close daily contact with club staff, members, supervisor and volunteers to receive/provide information and guidance. Recruit new members to participate in the programs at the Club. Ability to meet grant funded outcomes for teen programs.

Skills/Knowledge Required

Demonstrated experience in staff supervision including scheduling, coaching, and providing feedback. Knowledge of program and youth development processes and experience working with youth. Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm and supervise youth in organized activity and open play situations. Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating Education and Career Development programs. Group leadership skills and ability to run activities in gym, games room, outdoors, and on playing fields. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to facilitate program offerings to youth, parents, and the public. Ability to work effectively with others and maintain professionalism. Commitment to honesty, responsibility, fairness, sportsmanship, and respect for all involved.

Qualifications

Minimum of 21 years of age; High School Diploma or GED required AA degree or higher preferred. Competent with core functions, culture and issues pertaining to youth programs and development. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings. Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications may be obtained on the job. Must pass a national criminal background check. Driving requirements: reliable personal vehicle for business travel; valid WA State drivers license with acceptable 3-year MVR; verification of Tier 2 Insurance standards; willingness to travel within a designated region; ability to complete van driving with drug screen testing and related requirements.

Indoor and outdoor work; exposure to adverse weather, noise, dust, pollen, insects; possible contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals. Benefits

Paid Sick Leave accrues one hour per 40 hours worked; eligible after 30 days. 401(K) automatic enrollment of 1% with up to a 4% match after one year of employment. Paid Vacation accrues to one week (30 hours) annually. Personal All In Day one personal day (6 hours) annually after 3 months. Insurance eligible to participate in company-sponsored insurance programs.
