Electrical Engineer
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina Schedule (FT/PT): Regular Full Time Travel Required: Yes (0-25%) Clearance: Ability to Obtain Design and develop industrial, domestic, and commercial systems. They interact with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and fellow engineers every day to produce required coordinated designs. Responsible for writing specifications, schematics, and diagrams, coordinated with the client's needs, codes and other disciplines. Performing feasibility studies for industrial, domestic, and commercial technical developments. Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements. Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and federal laws and regulations in order to provide sound technical recommendations in writing. Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues. Perform field investigations, including the review of as-built drawings, to determine existing conditions, document findings, and provide a report to include written summary of observations, data collected, and photographs. Coordinate with Government client, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies. Coordinate and hold meetings, recommend requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedule/coordinate plans of action and milestones and inform all personnel. Provide written minutes for meetings. Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design-bid-build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc., to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements. Provide technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections. Provide technical support for construction field activities. Provide technical assistance for field investigations, witness testing, and commissioning efforts. Prepare various permit applications and assist with calculations and report writing. Documenting all project communications Participate in site field investigations and client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints and opportunities Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents. Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations. Perform Electrical design calculations, interpreting building codes Assist in Electrical engineering evaluations, reports, analyses, and designs for existing and new facilities and other related opportunities Prepare and oversee electrical power system design having single line diagrams, wiring and elementary diagrams along with layout and circuitry design. Prepare electrical specifications. Prepare supporting documents along with wire list plus BOM's. Prepare Energy Calculations and Permit documentation. Taking ideas from the initial design stage through to the construction process Ensuring projects are completed on time with the specified budget Perform Coordination Calculations, Arc Flash Hazard Studies Perform Lighting and Photometric Studies Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Architectural or Engineering college curriculum Minimum 10 years design experience. Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports and in briefing management personnel. Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-discipline engineering project design and construction. Knowledge of construction practices and methods and construction management. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and verbally. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents. Ability to delegate tasks to others Ability to design all components of a project Ability to manage projects from inception to completion Detail-oriented time management with the ability to meet deadlines and focus on project schedules Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Proficient in the use of Revit, AutoCAD Read and interpret technical engineering drawings Knowledge of electrical, lighting, energy, lightning, safety, communications, and building codes Proficient in the use of Revit, AutoCAD and Electrical Design software. (SKM, EZPower COMCheck EZ, etc.) Understand electrical theories and concepts Understand Arc Flash Hazard Requirements Excellent understanding of customer expectations and deliverables and the desire to produce good quality products. Must be a US citizen, possess a passport, and have the ability to travel up to 25% PE U.S. Professional Engineering Registration Holds an active Q-clearance Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time. Routine use of standard office equipment. Work generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites, but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction. Occasional travel may be required.
