Overview
The primary role of the EHS Coordinator is to ensure the Port Washington plant operates in full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, safety, and occupational health laws and regulations. This includes developing, monitoring, and maintaining effective guidance for individual site management systems, as well as developing and conducting effective training. This role requires the ability to engage across all levels of the organization, including the site leadership team and operational staff, to foster a positive and engaged environmental, health, and safety culture. Responsibilities
Uphold Vision & Values of Givaudan and the Sense Colour Business Unit (SCBU) Liaise with Port Washington site members to identify and deliver EHS strategy for the site Feedback findings and requirements to the Plant Manager on effectiveness and necessary resources Provide a focal point for Environmental, Health and Safety Management at the Port Washington site Promote good health and safety practices throughout the site, lead culture change regarding EHS engagement and participation Administer electronic auditing and incident reporting system Develop networking contacts and continuously identify technical and software best practices that can be used throughout the business Develop standards for site hazards including, but not limited to hazardous chemicals; emissions; effluent and waste management, risk assessment; contractor and supplier management; work permits; forklift standards; machinery safety; accident investigation and reporting, analysis and tracking, etc. Develop, implement, and maintain DDW & Givaudan Environmental, Health and Safety standard policies and procedures, work instructions, and regulations, in line with best practices and ensure these are met Develop and maintain effective risk management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate to enable the site to discharge their statutory, common law, and moral obligations, keeping staff and Managers abreast of changes in EHS Legislation and Codes of Practice. Ensure the site follows and complies with EHS management system policy, procedures, work instruction, and applicable regulations. Consult with site leadership to give appropriate advice on formulating best-practice policies and procedures Formally advise managers and appropriate persons on areas of non-compliance and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken, completed, recorded, and reported as needed Help obtain and maintain ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018, and SMETA accreditation for the site Manage contractor approval Ensure all statutory testing is completed on time and in full Training: Identify training needs and develop and deliver (or if necessary, source) Environmental, Health and Safety training for the site Auditing: Monitor legal compliance of the site Participate in environmental and health and safety audits and communicate with external authorities where needed Arrange and conduct internal EHS audits and provide advice and support to managers where corrective actions are required Follow up on remedial actions and ensure effectiveness For the site: Compile accident statistics, analyze trends, and propose remedial action where necessary Follow up on remedial action and ensure it is implemented Be available to assist in investigation and ensure that all accidents and near-misses are investigated, and report findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action Prepare reports to the enforcing authority as required Identify opportunities for continuous environmental, health, and safety improvement and implement programs to deliver these Respond to day-to-day health and safety issues as required. Through the site Engineer ensure that all PPM is completed on time and in full. Assist in managing budgets for maintenance, preventative services, housekeeping & sanitation, and safety Other duties as required Competency Requirements
