Software Architect

As part of the New York HBITS Tax Modernization Program, this role supports the Real Property Systems Modernization Project. The Software Architect will design, develop, and modernize legacy systems into scalable, secure, and efficient platforms. The position requires expertise in J2EE technologies, SQL, application servers, and performance tuning in high-volume environments. Responsibilities Lead technical design and modernization of legacy systems. Coordinate technical solutions across multiple support groups. Modify multiple systems in real time to meet user requirements. Develop and maintain tax processing system components. Provide production support and resolve defects. Write and tune SQL queries for performance. Guide requirements gathering and system design analysis. Mentor junior staff and support integration testing. Qualifications 7 years of experience with J2EE technologies including JDBC, JSP, XML. 7 years of experience developing Java EE applications using IDEs such as Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ. 7 years of experience with J2EE frameworks such as Spring or Struts and application servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, or WebLogic. 7 years of experience writing SQL statements for relational databases. 7 years of experience in system analysis and design of multi-tiered transactional systems. 5 years of experience performance tuning database-driven applications. 5 years of experience with messaging technologies such as MQ, JMS, or Kafka.
