Overview

Application Developer role at NYC Department of Social Services. The Department of Social Services (DSS) is composed of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). ITS (Information Technology Services) supports the daily, emergent, and long-term technology needs of HRA and DHS, developing applications and infrastructure for client eligibility and recertification systems, case management systems, housing systems, employment services, revenue matching, claims, and personnel systems. ITS / Office Of Business Solutions is recruiting for one IT Project Specialist to function as an Application Developer. Responsibilities

Create interaction models and interface designs for web-based applications based on established standards, business and technical requirements, and input from functional team members. Build rich and compelling user interfaces using Angular, React, or other web frameworks; develop applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Build full-stack web applications using Node.js and RESTful APIs; create relational database design and development using Informix; collaborate with technical teams to understand application capabilities, environment setup, and defect fixes. Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human-computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human-computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. Preferred Skills

Extensive experience in web and Windows-based software development using Agile methodologies, designing and developing multi-tier software solutions; ability to communicate with users, analyze, design, document applications, and resolve difficult technical issues. Extensive knowledge of MS .NET technologies and related software development tools; experience leading development groups using .NET technologies and related tooling (AngularJS, MVC, .NET Core, C#, Node.js, jQuery, Bootstrap, MSSQL, Oracle). Experience in database-related development tools like SQL Developer or TOAD. Additional Information
