Overview
Senior Overhead Transmission Line Engineer role within Jacobs Energy & Power Group, focusing on decarbonization and utility modernization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. The role involves interfacing with utility/developer clients, developing design deliverables for utility upgrades (greenfield/brownfield) and interconnection facilities, and supporting energy transition projects in North America. The energy industry is evolving, and Jacobs is expanding its Transmission & Distribution (T&D) operations to meet evolving needs. The position may involve program management to deliver major T&D initiatives, providing engineering overview and direction as an independent technical advisor representing owner interests. Base pay range
$138,400.00/yr - $240,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Interface with regional and global T&D delivery teams to support utility/developer clients and operations teams. Develop design deliverables for utility upgrades, including greenfield and brownfield projects, and developer interconnection facilities. Provide engineering overview, expertise, and direction as an independent technical advisor representing owner's interests. Understand client standards and design guidelines; develop design deliverables on time and within budget. Mentor team members across North America and globally within Jacobs Global Integrated Delivery (GID). Collaborate with cross?functional teams to support sales, proposals, and high?quality delivery of services. Engage with professional societies and industry events to stay updated on innovations and promote services (preferred).
Perform field visits and provide engineering support during construction. Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or related discipline (masters degree counts as one year of experience). Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States and ability to obtain additional PE licenses as needed. Minimum 8 years of direct overhead transmission line engineering design experience with a utility or consulting organization. Advanced knowledge of NESC, RUS, ASCE and other industry design specifications related to transmission line design. Experience in developing detailed engineering deliverables (bill of materials, design criteria documents, stringing charts, structure drawings, assemblies, etc.). Experience in developing and reviewing steel pole vendor specifications and fabrication drawings. Ability to perform QA/QC of design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications. Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower; familiarity with MFAD, LPile or similar foundation design software. Experience as an owners representative is a plus. Ability to scope projects, prepare task orders, review work, and verify owner compliance. Ability to perform field visits and provide client support during construction. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (preferred). Strong communication and technical writing skills; ability to mentor new engineers. Team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Additional information
