Job Description Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Long-Term Care (LTC) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum years of experience required: 0 License: Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws in the State of Alaska. Certifications: Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support certification. Must-Have: Must possess and maintain an Alaskan Food Workers Card.
Description: Provides high-quality personal care to skilled nursing home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. Follows the resident's care plan and maintains awareness of state and federal regulations governed by CMS. Assists residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of bed, wheelchairs, bathtubs, lifts, and using walkers and canes. Contributes as part of a team to provide programs that promote physical well-being and relationships by involving residents in activities that engage them in meaningful social interactions with other residents, family, friends, and staff. Under direct supervision of a licensed RN, provides basic nursing care to patients and/or residents in accordance with their assessment and treatment plan. Supports and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and/or residents. Assigned to a specific home unit but may be floated to other areas for additional support as needed. Proficient in speaking English to accurately and effectively communicate with patients and/or residents from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Depending on the unit, may need to learn specific skills to provide the best care to patients and/or residents. Employee will not work alone and no on-call duties are required. Shift is variable and weekends are required on a rotating basis. Incumbents will be assigned a specific home unit but may float to other areas for additional support as needed. The unit comprises 61 beds, with 54 currently filled. 12-hour shifts, variable to meet the needs of the facility - AM/PM/NOC. Will not flip-flop back-to-back shifts. Scrubs are the dress code for this position.
