Position Overview-

The Quantum Photonics Group (led by Principal Investigator (PI) Oskar Painter)

is seeking a Laboratory Assistant Manager to assist in the technical operations of its cleanroom facilities on the Caltech campus.

The QPG Laboratory Assistant Manager will be expected to collaborate with laboratory technicians, engineers, researchers, and other department personnel to oversee day to day operations, manage team dynamics, resolve issues, lead projects for improving the lab infrastructure, develop training and maintenance programs, oversee equipment troubleshooting and repair, and ensure operational protocols are followed and improved.

Location : Onsite in Pasadena, CA

Hours : M-F 8-5

Type : 1 year Contract to hire

Pay : $40-$48/hour

Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily cleanroom and nanofabrication operations while supervising technical staff including researchers, engineers, and laboratory technicians. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and operational procedures for advanced materials processing and characterization equipment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain comprehensive documentation of all laboratory procedures and protocols. Monitor team performance and provide mentorship to support professional development in materials science and nanofabrication techniques. Stay current with emerging nanofabrication technologies, materials science advances, and recommend improvements to laboratory capabilities. Minimum Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or related technical field. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with laboratory equipment maintenance, operations, or technical support in research environments. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in technical, laboratory, or manufacturing settings. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail and precision.
