The Nature Connection’s mission is to improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities through the therapeutic use of nature.

Founded in 1983 and based out of Concord, Massachusetts, The Nature Connection provides accessible, therapeutic nature-based programing for those with limited access to the outdoors (youth at-risk, children and adults with disabilities, and elders (including those with dementia/Alzheimer’s)) of the Greater Boston area and Middlesex County. The Nature Connection supports the wellbeing of individuals and communities by providing access to the many benefits of nature through interactions with plants, animals, and natural materials. The Nature Connection is currently seeking new animals to "volunteer" with us at our therapeutic nature programs. If you live in Concord, MA or the surrounding towns (anywhere in Middlesex County would be considered) and have a small pet with therapeutic/educational potential, we would love to hear from you. Current animal volunteers include rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, turtles, lizards, snakes, and snails. We are interested in whatever sweet and/or unusual animal you have at home that might enjoy visiting with our program participants. To learn more, visit https://www.nature-connection.org/volunteering-your-animal/. Some pet owners enjoy volunteering at our programs with their pets. While not required, you would be welcome to join us. In these situations, both you and your pet would be considered a volunteer and so we would ask that you go through our volunteer training process. Find out more about volunteering with your pet at https://www.nature-connection.org/volunteering/. Please visit our website to determine if your pet would be a good fit. Email us with any questions or to sign up your pet.
