Your Contribution
As a Senior Project Buyer reporting to the Head of Project Purchasing, you will work to fulfill customer deliverables for all purchasing requirements of the project (cost targets, supplier PPAP timing, USMCA content) and update the project team on all critical items. Provide general business support to the NA R&D organization.
Lead purchasing activities for components and materials as a key member of the project core team within the Product Development Process (PDP). Regional or global responsibility as assigned.
Work with Engineering from the initial design concept to attain target cost.
Evaluate and assess supplier quotations to ensure commercial, technical, and quality objectives are achieved. Provide component costing based on program BOM timing.
Schedule technical component reviews.
Lead sourcing decisions in accordance with MAHLE Purchasing Procedures and collaborate with regional and global commodity buyers to leverage the best overall landed costs.
Ensure purchased components meet all program milestones, track progress, and coordinate between suppliers and the development team.
Communicate supplier risks to the project team.
Effectively communicate with development team members across MAHLE Behr facilities worldwide, including generating and presenting project status updates to management.
Your Experience & Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
At least 5 years of experience in Purchasing or a related Supply Chain field in an automotive environment (cross-functional exposure preferred).
Skills in negotiation, financial cost analysis, and market analysis. Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
Strong time and project management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as stamping, injection molding, and casting.
Focus on meeting deadlines and target objectives.
Strong team player with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication skills.
