Job Summary
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. They monitor environmental conditions, conduct site inspections, prepare reports, and develop strategies to mitigate environmental risks. This role involves working with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and environmental consultants to support sustainability goals and maintain regulatory compliance.
Job Description
Monitor environmental compliance with EPA, OSHA, and state-specific environmental regulations. Conduct environmental assessments, site inspections, and audits. Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs and ensure proper disposal. Collect and analyze environmental samples (soil, water, air, etc.). Prepare and submit reports (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP, Tier II, Form R, etc.). Maintain permits and regulatory documentation (air quality, stormwater, wastewater, etc.). Assist in developing and implementing environmental management systems (EMS). Support sustainability initiatives, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and water use efficiency. Coordinate emergency response plans and environmental training for employees. Liaise with environmental agencies and participate in community engagement activities. Skills Required
Required Qualifications:
20+ years of relevant work experience. Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Experience with GIS software or environmental modeling tools. Familiarity with ISO 14001 or other EMS frameworks
Education/Training/Certifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
Pay Rate/Salary
Base Compensation: $45/hr to $50/hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.)
