The Supply Chain Department is currently seeking a Quality and Process Excellence Engineer who will apply strong, practical expertise using quality, lean process, and problem solving principles and tools to drive quality, delivery, and service improvements with UCMC suppliers and internal processes.
Job Summary Apply strong, practical expertise using quality, lean process, and problem-solving principles and tools to drive quality, delivery, and service improvements with UCMC suppliers and internal processes. Lead and manage supplier problem and improvement events to complete resolution (Plan-Do-Check-Act). Assists in design and implementation of policies and procedures to improve departmental initiatives. Work with Supply Chain and other department team members to identify and execute improvement initiatives. Use supplier business reviews and other in-person forums to engage suppliers in performance discussion and review. This is a highly hands-on, team, and standard work process-oriented position.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage supplier problem and improvement events to complete resolution (Plan-Do-Check-Act)
Assists in design and implementation of policies and procedures to improve departmental initiatives
Work with Supply Chain and other department team members to identify and execute improvement initiatives
Use supplier business reviews and other in-person forums to engage suppliers in performance discussion and review
This is a highly hands-on, team, and standard work process oriented position
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
Recommends appropriate actions and resolution based upon application of quality, lean process, problem solving expertise and tools to lead and manage quality, delivery, and service improvement activities with targeted suppliers and internal processes. Makes recommendations of analysis needed to identify improvement needs and performs Perform analysis of performance data as well as qualitative stakeholder input to identify needed improvement. Interacts directly with stakeholders to set aggressive improvement objectives and measurements then execute to the plan (PDCA). Create and teach standard work processes to stakeholder as improvements are made.
Lead and manage the supplier performance improvement process including quality and recall events to assure proper and complete communication and coordination of activities including stakeholder notification, inventory management, supplier response, status tracking and reporting, problem countermeasures and irreversible corrective actions. Lead Strategic Supplier Scorecard Process.
Provide process improvement and problem solving expertise to assist, train, and coach Supply Chain team members.
Continue to grow new skills and capabilities. Participate in supplier meetings and conference to remain abreast of current issues, trends, opportunities, and business environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Statistics, or related field
A minimum three (3) years practical, hands-on, quality and lean operations experience.
ASQ Quality Engineer certification or demonstrated equivalent practical experience including standard statistical tools; complex problem solving and management; process planning, control and improvement
Practical Six Sigma experience
High qualitative analysis, problem solving, and project management skills
Requires advanced modeling and analytics skills using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, VISIO) and other standard data analysis tools (e.g. Business Objects, Tableau, etc.)
High ability to analyze and interpret complex data, creates reports, and prepares succinct presentations
Strong communication skills including delivering formal presentations
Demonstrated ability to manage own time and work tasks
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s preferred
