Position Function:
Performs a variety of basic office support and/or secretarial duties for Central Mississippi Research & Extension Center. This is a part-time, call-in position to provide support on an as needed basis. Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year. The Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center (CMREC) is one of four Research and Extension Centers in the MSU System and located in Raymond, MS. Area of Specialization
Administrative Support Anticipated Appointment Date
July 2025. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet and welcome guests and visitors; answer and return phone calls and emails in a timely manner while also directing calls, messages, and requests to appropriate personnel. Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail; prepare and send outgoing mail. Operate a computer to perform basic typing and data entry using word processing and spreadsheets; operate printers, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment as needed. Assist with event setup, registration, and cleanup. Assist with filing documents and organizing materials and office spaces. Perform other support duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Receptionist skills. Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment. Organization skills. Word processing and/or data entry skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
* Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. There may be limited outdoor work to assist with events. * No or very limited exposure to physical risk. * No or very limited physical effort required.
