AECOM has a position available for an energy storage specialist to strengthen our team of engineers and designers working on renewable projects across the country for the US Energy Practice. The focus includes energy storage (e.g., BESS, supercapacitors) and related renewable energy projects, including interconnection, solar PV (including agrivoltaics and floating PV), and other next-generation energy solutions. The role requires a strong power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates are technical leaders with a diverse background in distributed energy solutions, committed to quality project delivery and innovative problem solving. Responsibilities
Support department manager in advancing a culture of technical excellence and accountability Provide mentorship to other engineers, especially on energy storage topics Develop task and deliverable lists with hours estimates and schedules for business development activities related to renewable and decentralized energy projects Support the departments strategic initiatives by participating in industry events and committees Lead by example in engineering execution as a technical lead on projects Perform engineering calculations to support construction deliverables (specifications, reports, drawings) Support projects through full life cycle including feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning Participate in and present at meetings, including those requiring occasional travel Collaborate with Project Managers on designing schedules and budgets for engineering work activities Provide quality control reviews of work produced by others Ensure technical and safety standards are maintained in all design work Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Experience includes design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering Current professional engineering license (PE) and ability to obtain additional states by comity Minimum four (4) years of experience acting as the lead engineer on a project (preferred) 12+ years of relevant experience (preferred) Participation in professional organizations (e.g., LDES Council, ACP, etc.) Proficiency in power management controls and system design AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel proficiency Experience with software such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope, WindPRO Experience with system simulation tools such as Homer Pro, Homer Grid, ETAP Ability to estimate Capex and Opex, evaluate PPA economics, and calculate ROI MV AC Collection System Design experience Special design experience: floating PV, fuel cells, agrivoltaics, supercapacitors, etc. Proficiency with NEC and related codes (IBC, NFPA 855) Strong knowledge of utility practices and standards (NESC, IEEE, UL, etc.) Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish Field construction and commissioning experience Additional Information
