Position Summary

The Student - Women's Basketball Jersey Washing Attendant is responsible for assisting in the operation of coordinating the work efforts of the production areas of the laundry department, and conducting weekly inventories.

Note: Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:

Sorts torn and stained articles

Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry requisitions

Soaks contaminated articles and processes in de-staining cycle

Cleans lint traps regularly

Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap or other cleaning agent by programming laundry machines.

Operates laundry machinery such as washers and dryers

Lifts clean wet articles from washer and places them successively into dryers for measured time cycles

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience Requirements: Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of six credits per semester and three credits in the summer Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures Ability to operate washing and drying machines Ability to handle inquires and problems efficiently and direct to the proper staff member Ability to report for work on time and notify the appropriate individual in advance if unable to work Ability to communicate effectively, verbal and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Afternoon, evening and weekend work will be required.

Physical Requirements:

Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds requires a good deal of walking or standing, or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
