Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Department of Biostatistics (BIOS) is internationally recognized as a leader in Biostatistics research and training. It is one of eight departments in the Gillings School of Global Public Health whose mission is to improve public health, promote individual well-being and eliminate health inequities across North Carolina and around the world. This mission is accomplished through an outstanding program of collaborative teaching, research and service. The Department of Biostatistics is one of the largest, most complex departments at UNC, receiving over $45 million in research funding in FY24. Currently BIOS includes approximately 288 students (84 undergraduate, 204 graduate), approximately 100 permanent staff members, and 40 faculty members (30 with primary appointments in BIOS), as well as an additional 20 adjunct faculty members. The Department of Biostatistics is housed in two different locations: administrative and faculty offices, including a suite of offices for graduate students, in McGavran-Greenberg Hall and the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center at Carolina Square.
Position Summary The Department of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an outstanding biostatistics postdoctoral associate jointly supervised by Professor Didong Li. The Department Biostatistics at UNC Chapel Hill has numerous exciting research programs of relevance to health science, including focus areas in genomics and big data. This position is funded by a training grant from National Institute of Environmental Health and Sciences. The Department of Biostatistics is a center of cutting-edge research in statistical science with strong collaborative relationships within the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, ranked #2 nationally and UNC Medical School. Successful applicant will have opportunities of working on broad area of methodology research and could closely engage with investigators from Biostatistics, Genetics, and other faculties on UNC campus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Doctorate in Biostatistics or related field.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience A strong background in statistical methods. Consistent with NIH policies for T32 fellowships, to be eligible for this award, individuals must be either US citizens, non-citizen nationals or permanent residents.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience in spatial statistics is a plus.
