The

Chemical Technician

at Ormond Beach Generating Station ensures the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of chemical processes and systems critical to power plant performance. This role involves performing chemical analyses, monitoring and maintaining plant chemical treatment systems, supporting safety and environmental compliance, and providing technical expertise to troubleshoot and optimize operations. The technician collaborates across teams, supports training, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Communicate technical data on plant chemical processes and equipment to management and technical staff. Troubleshoot chemical-related issues in power plant systems and equipment. Perform gas fuel tracking, air monitoring, and compliance reporting, including annual reports. Complete GADS operating reports for Ellwood and verify waste manifest documentation. Support safety training, scheduling, and site safety inspections. Operate and maintain lab equipment, conduct chemical analyses, and perform calculations. Collect and analyze process and environmental samples to ensure production and regulatory compliance. Monitor and optimize plant chemical treatment systems. Support chemical cleaning activities and provide skill enhancement training to colleagues. Assist maintenance and operations teams with tools, equipment, and company vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable unit operations. Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and cost-effective resource use. Proactively identify and resolve issues, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Other duties as assigned by plant management Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 8 college credit hours in chemistry. Preferred: 4 years of power plant experience with supercritical boilers or 5 years of industrial chemical experience. Proficient in using computers and software for data entry, analysis, and report generation. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Collaborative team player with the ability to lead or contribute to cross-functional teams. Basic knowledge of chemistry principles, laboratory techniques, and lab equipment operation. Understanding of chemical analysis impacts on plant operations. Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations. Ability to perform basic math and algebraic calculations. Capable of connecting, disconnecting, and making minor adjustments to test/lab equipment. Basic understanding of plant processes, systems, and business functions. Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required Physical Requirements

Normal office environment and /or outdoors work environment. (including working at heights, high/ low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work location).

Requires Standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hats, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.) May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals Occasionally lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
