Power Electronics Control System Senior Technical Expert
The Power Electronics Control System Senior Technical Expert will report to the Hybrid Electric Electrical Systems Manager within the GE Aerospace Future of Flight Organization, as well as have accountability to the GE Aerospace Chief Engineer's Office. The Engineer will have demonstrated technical expertise and support both the execution of the GE Aerospace hybrid electric portfolio of power systems and components, as well as building GE Aerospace's technical body of knowledge. This role is essential towards the safe and effective maturation of GE Aerospace's hybrid electric technology portfolio and the realization of the aviation industry's sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century. Essential Responsibilities:
As the Power Electronics Control System Senior Technical Expert, you will: Define technical plans and roadmaps for the development and validation of hybrid electric system and component control systems. Consult and mentor less experienced engineers on hardware, software and control design solutions, initiating from concept design. Develop, review, and improve electrical system and component models for predicting system behavior. Actively participate in and serve as a reviewer in technical forums, providing clear actionable direction and feedback. Inform test plans to balance technical learnings and program schedules. Provide clear, timely communication of technical risks and challenges. Capture lessons learned and best practices to aid in continuous improvement of GE Aerospace's hybrid electric capabilities. Define and formalize system, test, hardware, software, and human integration requirements. Define, refine, and apply GE Aerospace best practices. Present technical material to internal (GE Aerospace) and external (customer, agency, government, ) customers. Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment. Additionally, you will be responsible to continually mature your personal and professional development through training opportunities, mentorship, and formal career path definition. Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 8 years industrial experience in power electronics control systems. Highly motivated, self-starting, and passionate. Expert knowledge of controls systems and software for power generation, power electronics, and energy storage. Experience with aerospace-related standards such as RTCA DO-160, DO-254, and DO-178. Experience with electrical power testing. Experience with propulsion testing. Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills. Strong technical communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in more-distributed work environments. Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams. Keen listener and innate drive to succeed.
